Come join the Santos team.

We envision scientific research as integral to the goals of social and environmental justice. The Santos Lab is committed to equity and diversity in our hiring process, internal practices, and outreach efforts. We aim to foster a work and learning environment that is inclusive. We have ongoing anti-racism/anti-bias discussions and participate in equity training, including implicit bias and the history and present state of Indigenous affairs in Canada. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, in particular those that would contribute to the further diversification of our lab. If you are a motivated candidate student or postdoc fascinated with Mammalian Developmental Epigenetics, contact us. Please include your cover letter explaining why you are interested in our lab, your CV, and the contact of 3 references.  Note that the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto welcomes applicants from anywhere in the world for direct entry into the Ph.D. program, without the need for a faculty sponsor, and supports them at the same level as domestic students (details here).

We as the Santos Lab acknowledge that the land on which we work is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat Peoples, and that it is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. To learn more about these nations in their own words, please click the links above. This Native Land Map is rich in information on land ownership in the country we call Canada. As scientists, we heed the calls for Concern for Welfare, Respect for Persons, and Justice published in the Tri-Council Policy Statement from the Government of Canada. We are open to a diversity of forms of knowledge. We aim to complement our lab research with science outreach and further immersion in Indigenous culture around the city of Toronto. If you have questions or suggestions on our land acknowledgment or outreach goals, please contact us.

Toronto is a vibrant, cosmopolitan, diverse and safe city. It has excellent quality of life and cultural offerings including professional sports, restaurants, parks, schools and public transit. Just outside of the city, Toronto residents have access to great hiking trails, camping, biking, water sports and skiing. Toronto is at the same latitude as Florence, Italy; the weather pattern is similar to Boston’s but Toronto gets a lot less snow in the Winter than Boston; and unlike San Francisco, Toronto has a real Summer. It is very accessible with 2 modern airports with direct flights to all major cities in the world. Toronto is a large city with many opportunities for spouses/partners in academic labs, hospitals, biotech, pharma, etc.
